Early this morning I sadly read that Simon and OME had withdrawn from the race.
Total respect for his endurance, guts and determination to go it alone!!
Remembering our time in Geraldton, watching the final few days of preparation being placed together and having the side to side chats and support from both his parents Ken and Rosemary.
I know Guy and Andy will be feeling this too, maybe giving Simon a call tonight as he is spending one last night on OME.
Tomorrow he will be transfered to the Mother ship, Desiderata with as much equipment as he can manage.OME to be towed if possible, back.
Thank you Ken and Rosemary for all your support. Please convey this to Simon from all of us.

Yayski, glad to hear you are on the move again and in the right direction.
I think that is really sad for Simon Prior, considering how well and how far he got.
But glad you guys are still doing awesomely!
xx
Really sad about Simon retiring. he did SO well and achieved amazingly. He must be so proud of himself for tackling 52 days at sea.
Boys, proud of you both too. Cant believe you have been out their for 52days. Fantastic. Shame sense of direction is sometimes little off course......typical men!!!!!!!!
Row,row, row, want you on the downhill course home now please xxxx
THIS IS SO UNFAIR !
So we make up last week that Ronaldo moves from Man United to Real for £80M and I tell the girls, breaking the news gently by sat phone.
Then the next week Ronaldo goes and does it!
The 'facts' will clearly have to be more outrageous from now on.
Jem
PS - Lottery numbers anyone?
hee hee - that's the first thing i thought of when i heard the Ronaldo news Jem - we will obviously have to get our imagination going with these false headlines!!!
Really happy that you're heading in the right direction again! Chin up boys!
You're doing brilliantly well, so a current came and spiced things up a bit, you're better than the current!! xxxx
Guy and Andrew we are all following your progress here and think you are doing so well...keep at it...Pretty sure you will be in before the other guys in Southern Cross...you know you want to do that dont you...!!
See you both for a beer or two when you are back..Martyn J
Ken and Rosemary I'd just like to second the sentiments of Xtina and Nigel - it makes it so much harder to take in having been on that pontoon in Geraldton where FF & OME were together. It is impossible to know how Simon is feeling my heart goes out to him and my thoughts are with you all. Totally overwhelmed with his achievement and so sad too.
